Village Playing Field - update
Moving goal posts
Bentley Parish Council have agreed with Maritime FC to extend the size of the football pitch to allow the Maritime FC team to play 11v11 football.
This will necessitate re-locating the village goals from that pitch to the smaller practice pitch where temporary goals have been in place up to now.
This work will be carried out over the next couple of weeks so please allow for some disruption of the use of the pitches during that time.
Improvements to facilities
As part of Bentley Neighbourhood Plan, (Appendix E) the Parish Infrastructure Improvement Plan identifies the priorities for improved infrastructure for the village.
Residents have requested improved recreational facilities in their responses to the Neighbourhood Plan questionnaire.
Drainage of Playing Field
Effective drainage of the Village Playing Field is seen as a priority before any other expenditure so the field can be used all year round. Bentley Parish Council together with Maritime FC intend to invest in a treatment that should ensure good drainage. For more details see this article written by Jon Haines from Maritime FC.
This work will be carried out over 5 days starting on 11th October 2021. During that time the Playing Field will be out of action.
Purchase of Outdoor Gym Equipment
Following requests from young people in the 11-16 years age group in the village for some equipment, a survey amongst that age group was organised by a group of parents at the request of the Playing Field Society Trustees. Many thanks to those parents for their help. The result was a request for outdoor gym equipment. A grant request was made by our Footpath Warden to Viridor on behalf of the Trustees but was unfortunately unsuccessful. Bentley Parish Council together with the Playing Field Society will be able to contribute towards some of the costs for this equipment. Bentley Parish Council are now pursuing some 'top up' CIL funding from Babergh District Council to meet the remainder.
